Tigo partners with The Guardian Limited to launch News SMS Service

Tigo Tanzania in collaboration with The Guardian Limited have together launched a ‘News SMS service’, which aims at providing Tigo’s valuable customers with news accessible from wherever they are in the country.

The new product known as ‘GUARDIAN SMS’ and ‘NIPASHE SMS’ is technically supported by Premier Mobile Solutions (PMS)and has been described by the telecom as the most simplest and efficient way to unlock the world to its customers by just a fingertip away.


“With the fast paste of ICT, Tigo has realized the growing importance of providing information to its customers, that is why, today, we are proud to have launched this well-tailored News SMS Service with our partners The Guardian Limitedand PMS, so as to keepour subscribers abreast with current affairs while enjoying the news updates at personal ease,” said Tigo’s Quality Specialist, Ms. Pamela Shelukindo.

“Our target is to provide our valuable customers with not only easier, but timely and reliable information from credible sources such as The Guardian and Nipashe newspapers,”addedMs. Shelukindo.

Speaking on behalf of the Guardian Limited, the Marketing Manager Mr. Simon Marwa said, “We believe this innovation will undoubtedly enable both The Guardian and Nipashenewsreaderswho are also Tigo subscribers to get hooked on latest news from our media housevia their mobile phones.”

“We encourage our readers to subscribe this service through Tigo so that they may access and enjoy a wide variety of local, international and sports newsthrough our leading newspapers, The Guardian and Nipashe. We have decided to offer the product through both papers, so as to meet the diversification ofTigo subscribers who may be comfortable in either English or Swahili,” continued Mr.Marwa.

On her part, the Assistant Operations Manager from Premier Mobile Solutions Ms. Lulu Ramole said that the product was designed to provide customers with instant access to information adding that the service comes in COMBO/BUNDLE pack whereby Tigo Subscribers will be charged ONLY ONCE per DAY and receive a minimum of four (04) News Headlines and Updates daily.

The Service will also allow The Subscriber to Un-subscribe to the service anytime they wishwithout any difficulties and provide a MSAADA keyword for help on various Frequent Ask Questions for customers to send queries while enjoying/experiencing the service.

In order to subscribe to these services one needs to send the KeywordGUARDIAN or NIPASHE to 15501. Once subscribed the subscriber will receive news headlines from the Keyword they have subscribed daily and will be charged TSH 99/- per day. To unsubscribe from the services a subscriber just needs to send ONDOA or STOP to 15501.
